The two space probes launched by NASA in 1977 have travelled an incredible journey through our solar system. Now, after 40 years, they are further away from Earth than any other man-made object. The nuclear batteries are as good as used up, so the probes are almost completely switched off.
However, a now very elderly crew maintains contact with the two probes via the global "Deep Space Network". On board, "Voyager 1" and "Voyager 2" have the legendary "Golden Record" with messages to extraterrestrial beings.
The lecture describes the journey of the "Voyager" probes, describes where they are currently located and presents the "Golden Record" with visual and audio examples.
